The Future of Fight in the Dog
When I first contemplated creating Fight in the Dog, I realized that the only way I could do it would be anonymously. I also realized that one or two members of the very small circle of people who would know of my authorship of the site would eventually find that knowledge an uncomfortable burden. That time has come. As a result, on July 9th, the one year anniversary of Fight in the Dog, I'll publish my last post. Over the remaining month I'll post on some of the issues I believe are important to women's lightweight rowing, why I believe this season has been a turning point for the sport, and finally, some personal impressions of some of the teams I feel I've gotten to know over this season.
FITD has taken more of my time than I ever thought it would, but I've enjoyed every second of it. Most of all, I've enjoyed your comments and emails (even the critical ones) and seeing how much passion you all have for your sport. I'd like to leave the door open just a crack, in case I find a solution for an untenable situation, but I'm not holding my breath.

Why does it matter if people find out your identity? I personally am curious to know but understand your wishes to remain unknown. Still, I was hoping this FITD page would continue next season. Even if we dont know who the author is, we know it's someone who obviously has taken their time to study this sport. We like to read your comments and appreciated that you keep us updated. I'm pretty sure every single lightweight team knows about this page and checks it often. It's exciting to know that there are people watching and interested in the outcome... I hope you can find a solution... Thanks again
I agree, I have really enjoyed following FITD, and I think it could be particularly helpful for the HS rowers who are wondering what opportunities are available in college.
i guess i am just confused about why your identity is such an issue; why do you feel so strongly that you need to remain anonymous? why not stand behind your opinions, instead of cowering behind your anonymity? my advice is BALL UP.
Where you Going? I just got here - July huh? What a coincidence! - Good luck with your new arrival.
why is it a coincidence?
i agree with the other comments it seems like more people have recently found out about this page.. and they want to keep reading! and i also agree that it shouldnt matter if we know who you are.. but most importantly we'd like FITD to keep going..
i agree. i've been reading FITD since the first month you started posting here. Our whole entire boat reads these posts and gets so excited when we see posts about our school... about us!... let FITD go on!!
ironic how the person who tells you to BALL UP and not cower behind your anonymity signed her post 'anonymous'...
haha
we love dem hoez...
way to lighten up the mood, no pun intended
I'm really disappointed that this blog is ending! This is the only way that I can keep track of the entire lightwieght rowing scene...it helps keep me informed about other crews, which means that I can keep my rowers motivated and competetive. If there is any way that you could continue this blog, or have another column, if for no other reason that to keep a consolidated collection of data of the lightweights...it would really be great, and very helpful!
Its almost July and nearing your last post. I would just like to make one last appeal. I think you should reconsider your stance on ending FITD. Youve given more to lwt rowing than you know. As much as most lwts want to think that lwt rowing is considered as prestigious as open,in most eyes, it doesnt get that kind of respect. You gave lwts a sense of accomplishment by writing about them and giving them the recognition they deserve. We know nothing about you, and yes it is fun to joke and try to figure out who you are but nonetheless lwts care what you have to say. You give them something to look forward to. FITD may have put you in a more difficult position than you ever thought would result from this but the impact youve had and could continue to have is part of a bigger picture. I hope you realize that and I hope you will take all of this into consideration.
